“Trial By Error” Rebranding

BRANDING.

TOMBOGO was in search of a redirection of the brand messaging and appeal. In a series of conversations, we found that what is unique about TOMBOGO is the hand craftsmanship the designer put into the products. Each item is made by hand, in studio. Branding and communicating this through the slogan “Trial by Error”, the idea that mistakes and experimentation in the creation and design process is the process, the brand found new life and honesty in the brand.

DESIGN.

TOMBOGO wanted to create its own series of products that were in line with fashion trends, while being free to find a consistent theme that could bridge between products. With accessories being an ever growing aspect of streetwear, I advised him on the TOMBOGO strap system. Using branded straps and creating a series of bags that appeal to both sexes that were fashionable as they were functional.

PRODUCTION.

In creating a new brand image, TOMBOGO needed a cohesive aesthetic that would compliment the variety of products being created. We created the concept of a Laboratory, where the owner creates, tests, and reviews his experiments. Minimalism and the idea of sterialization was the solution. White backgrounds with simple, props, and subtle posing allowed the products to reside in the forefront and create a tasteful lifestyle feel in the visuals.
